On 24th October 2008 Meyer Werft delivered the big cruise ship Celebrity Solstice with 122.000 gt to the shipping company Celebrity Cruises (Miami/ USA) in the Dutch port of Eemshaven.
Celebrity Solstice is the first ship of a line of five cruise liners which is built by the ship-yard in Papenburg for Celebrity Cruises. Its total length of 315 metres is almost three times as long as a soccer ground.
Celebrity Solstice built by Meyer Werft is a very special eco-friendly ship: extremely efficient systems like photovoltaics equipment, optimized hydrodynamic as well as a very effective submarine paint which amount to an energy saving of 30 per cent with regard to other ships.
The planned associate ships Celebrity Equinox and celebrity Eclipse will be equipped corresponding to these indications with the most reliable and most modern technology. The date of delivery is scheduled for 2009 and 2010.
